Constant Acceleration

You have completed this assignment when you have done the following:
- Used LoggerPro to insert, plot, analyze, and report on the video below
- Saved the file and emailed it to me as an attachment.

Activity-

In this lab activity you will be analyzing a falling ball to calculate the acceleration of gravity. Gravity is a constant force, thus it will cause a constant acceleration on a falling object. Your objective it to use video analysis to determine "g". Remember in LoggerPRo you can plot data and then select the graph you want to analyze by clicking on the Y-axis and selecting the graph to analyze. Once you have selected the correct graph just find its slope and you will have the balls acceleration. You will be graded on your ability to complete this assignment as well as your accuracy. Good luck. Hint- Find a spot on the ball and always place your point on that spot. Also, it will be easier to only plot the points on the way down. Do not plot any points after the ball strikes the ground.

Ball Toss Video There is a meter stick in the frame to help you set your scale. Remember to select "Y" data for this activity, since the ball is falling along the y-axis, not the x-axis, like the blinky car lab.

Email me your saved file as an attachment. Save your file as your_name_balltoss.cmbl

Assignment-

You will need to turn in the following items.

  • LoggerPro file including video and data.
